Elvira Muñoz, Director of the Master in Strategic Design of Spaces, and Cristina Mateo, Associate Dean at IE A&D, will talk about how we will organize ourselves in such a new context, and what types of spaces we will inhabit.

IE University Fabricates 3D Printed Protection Screens
|
IE School of Architecture and Design used 3D printers to fabricate the frames for face shields for healthcare personnel in Castilla y León.
In doing so, IE joins the Coronavirus Makers initiative made up of more than a hundred individuals from the province of Segovia.
IE University's Fab Lab produced the frames for individual face shields using seven Fused Deposition Modeling 3D printers (FDM) located at its Segovia campus. These face shields, which can be sterilized and therefore reused, were sent to the Castilla y León Health Service (Sacyl) for distribution in hospitals and nursing homes. The central government's delegation of the regional government of Castilla y León in Segovia is currently coordinating these efforts.

Architect María Ruiz joined the Master in Business for Architecture and Design in 2011, its founding year, with the objective of learning the skills she would need to start her own firm.
She realized this goal in 2013 when she founded Atelier MEL, her company for designing and manufacturing of contemporary artworks, especially for lighting, that blend modern digital techniques with traditional craftsmanship.
In all her works, from bespoke projects to modular systems that can be co-designed with clients, she has always tried to rethink traditional craftmanship and take it one step further.
Read more about María's story and why she has said, "the MBArch helped me make a change in my career"
