Our Dean, Martha Thorne, is building stronger ties with key stakeholders in Perú, where the AEC sector represents 7% of the GDP.

To do so, she will talk about architects and the relevance of their role in the 21st century at the 26 edition of the National Architects Congress. This year, the theme is around the construction of sustainable cities in the Amazonia.

IE Architecture+ Prize 
Deadline September 15

IE A&D presents the IE Architecture+ Prize, a competition for recent graduates of a bachelor or a master degree program in architecture, design or related fields and who were ranked in the top 25% of their class.
The winning entries will be awarded a scholarship for part of the tuition of the Master in Business for Architecture and Design (MBArch).

The Master Jurors for the competition are Paul Priestman, Designer, founder and Chairman of PriestmanGoode; and Anupama Kundoo, Principal at Anupama Kundoo Architects. 
Martha Thorne, Dean, and Jerónimo van Schendel, Director of the MBArch, will join them as jury advisors.

Hay Festival Segovia 2019

  • Architecture: A Catalyst for Change: Jeanne Gang, founder of Studio Gang, will talk about architecture and innovation with Martha Thorne, Dean of IE A&D, in a session moderated by Edwin Heathcote, Architecture and Design Critic for The Financial TimesFind out more (20 September, 7.30PM @ Aula Magna, IE University, Segovia)
  • Alternative Modernity: Raj Rewal, renowned Indian Architect, and Llàtzer Moix, cultural journalist and expert in architecture, will share a conversation on how climatic sensibility, human architecture and many other issues have an impact on today's architecture.   • Public Spaces in Today's Architecture: Amanda Levete, founder and principal of AL_A, will be in conversation with Peter Florence, founder of the Hay Festival, discussing architecture today with topics ranging from materials to the importance of public space. Innovation in Urban Strategy

Iben Falconer, who trained as an environmental designer and previously worked for BIG, has joined Gehl Architects as a strategist for partnerships and investments. 
As a director for Gehl’s Innovation Team and former professor at IE A&D, she will give a virtual master class on the Innovation of Urban Strategy and how technology, public engagement and the concept of the future of cities are changing the game.

Summer @ IE School A&D

IE Summer School
During the first fortnight of the month of July a group of high school students with an interest in architecture and design attended the IE Summer School.

These students created their first designs, exploring and implementing different tools and technologies from the IE FabLab, such as 3D scanning (as shown on the picture below) and printing.
Ruxandra Iancu, professor in the Bachelor in Design, guided the students through an immersive experience into the world of design, using emergent tools to explore and experiment with different ideas as they developed their own creative process.

BuiltTech: the First Executive Program at IE A&D

BuiltTech, the newest program of IE A&D organized alongside with IE Executive Education, has just finished its first edition.
This edition's closing words were given by Juanjo Güemes, VP Economic Affairs and Chairman at IE, and Dean Martha Thorne

London Face to Face periods
Students of the Master in Architectural Management and Design and the Master in Strategic Design of Spaces experience London during their second face to face period in their 13-month degree program.

The students have enjoyed studio visits and lectures in renowned companies such as Foster and PartnersGenslerGrimshaw ArchitectsRogers Stirk Harbour and PartnersGensler and New London Architecture among others.
Master in Real Estate Graduation
We are very happy to welcome 41 new alumni to the IE A&D community. 
The Master in Real Estate Development 2018 program finished with the Graduation ceremony on July 19, bringing together families and friends from 20 different countries to celebrate the special day. 

Congratulations! We wish our new MRED alumni all the best for the future!
Featured Alumni

Letizia Caprile (Founder and Creative Director of Kaura Studio, Madrid) & Pietro Perego (Co-founder of IArchitects, Milan)

Born in Madrid, Letizia Caprile is an intrepid urban-holic obsessed with the city and the social encounters that happen within it and how they shape the very life of the city.
She joined IE A&D to study the Bachelor in Architectural Studies and graduated in 2015.
As part of her experience at IE, Letizia had the chance to work as an intern in the UK, Chile, India, and Oman on projects ranging from private residences and urban planning and policy to social housing and real estate development.

Pietro Perego was born in Treviglio, near Milan, Italy.
He graduated with a degree in Architecture from the Politecnico of Milano in 2002. His thesis dealt with sustainability using an integrated approach to design.
Moved by these interests, aligned with IE A&D's values and looking for solutions for his own practice, Pietro joined us in 2017 to complete the Master in Architectural Management and Design, now Master in Business for Architecture and Design.
