Bachelor in Architectural Studies: Mid Term Reviews

The students of the fifth year of the Bachelor in Architecture had the Mid-Term Reviews for their Final Thesis Projects last Friday, March 22.

The projects focus on the studio of the development of rural areas of Extremadura that were colonized in the first half of the 20th century and on how the balance of the population and the industrial distribution happens within its vast territory.

Together with the regional government, the students analyze the area of Vegas Altas, contained between the old village of Medellín and the Orellana Dam, in order to devise architectural proposals with the ability to deal with the challenges that the local community is facing.

Projects range from small-scale interpretation centers to regional plans to rethink agricultural production in and around villages.

Students presented to their professors Matan Mayer and Fernando Rodríguez, and the Mid-Term reviewers Manuel Gener Villechenous, architect and General Director of Architecture in the Junta de Extremadura, Jesús Castillo Oli, architect and Principal at Estudio Castillo Oli, and professors in the Bachelor in Architectural Studies Laura Martinez de GuereñuRafael Iñiguez de Onzoño, Fernando García Pino, and José Vela Castillo.

Featured Alumni

Tanvi Mehta, Community Design Manager @ Livespace.com, New Dehli

Originally from Chandigarh, Tanvi grew up admiring the ‘concrete’ architecture designed by Le Corbusier for the new city to be the capital of Punjab and Haryana. This early experience contributed to her understanding of architecture and urban planning.

Tanvi is confident that the biggest aspect that has factored her growth while studying the Master in Architectural Management and Design in 2015, was the wide range of highly driven professionals from around the world that joined her during this path-changing experience.
“We were 20 people from 20 different countries each with a story of our own, successful and wanting to create a mark in whatever they were doing.”
