12 June - 6.00pm
Online

Cities and lifestyle trends are constantly changing. One of the responses to these changes is co-living, a modern form of urban housing, similar in some ways to co-working. Co-living allows residents of a development to share certain amenities and facilities, while at the same time creating a vibrant community.

In this talk, Nick Rees, Architectural Director of the co-living company The Collective, will focus on how co-living is evolving as a housing typology and the role it plays in present-day society.

The Experience of the First Makeathon @ IE A&D

One of the biggest challenges for the students of the Master in Architectural Management and Design is to learn how to identify and tackle challenges and problems of the world of spatial design, business, and entrepreneurship, and turn them into new opportunities.

Jerónimo van Schendel, Director of the program, has designed a series of Makeathonsintensive full-day workshops in which students have to explore together and put into practice useful design techniques, such as brainstorming, peer review, analyzing and the idea selection process.

These Makeathons happen during the two face to face periods of the program and they help the students to frame their Venture Lab projects in a more constructive and efficient way.

In this video, Jerónimo van Schendel, and Master in Architectural Management and Design students Lily Hamouche, Yebin Sreenivasan and Carmen Rey share the experience of the first Makeathon.

Her goal was to design spaces from the perspective of people and how they communicate.

In 2013 Katya was charged with leading the design of one of the first coworking spaces in Moscow. She felt the need of broadening her knowledge to meet this new challenge, so in 2014 she joined the IE Master in Strategic Design of Spaces.
