IE A&D @ the Smart City Expo World Congress

Cities are centers for innovation, culture and learning and, IE School of Architecture and Design, aware of this, took part at the Smart City Expo World Congress hosted in Barcelona from November 13-15.
The exhibition and congress provided a venue for all smart city sectors and an innovative forum to debate urban action worldwide. This year's edition concentrated on five main topics responding to the key issues facing cities: Digital Transformation, Urban Environment, Mobility, Governance & Finance, and Inclusive & Sharing Cities.

Martha ThorneDean of our School interviewed the Mayor Rafael Greca of Curitiba, Brazil, as they talked about transforming cities through public space and green districts. For several decades, Curitiba has been at the forefront of innovative ideas for creating innovative solutions for mobility, smart development, and the environment.

The Students of the Master in Real Estate Development attended the same congress as part of the agenda of their first trip within the program. They learned about the strategic features of the model of the city itself, that combines transformation with economic development and social consensus. Their visit included sites such as 22@ Barcelona, Diagonal Mar, and Barcelona El Prat airport.
