Universidad del Desarrollo de Chile @ IE A&D

Visiting students after the workshop at Álvaro Catalán de Ocón's Studio

IE School of Architecture and Design welcomed 26 design students from the Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago de Chile to Segovia and Madrid. 

The intense two-week program, Designing the Future: Strategies and Sustainability included lectures with professors of the Bachelor in Design , ceramics and glass-blowing workshops, and a series of visits to different studios in Madrid including Álvaro Catalán de Ocóni.d. Real and Ciszak Dalmas.

Master in Real Estate Development 2019

The building our cities is becoming an increasingly collaborative and cross-disciplinary process. With that in mind, IE School of Architecture and Design invited Shaina Doar, Head of City Operations at Sidewalk Labs to deliver the opening lecture of this year's Master in Real Estate Development
She addressed the challenges that growing cities face today, and how technology, urban innovation, and public participation must go hand in hand to improve the quality of city life.

Bauhaus In and Out Congress



To commemorate the centenary of the Bauhaus, founded by Walter Gropius in the German city of Weimar in 1919, Spain’s Association of Historians of Architecture and Urban Design (AhAU) held the II International Congress: Bauhaus In and Out: Perspectives from Spain / Perspectives from Spain, earlier this month.

IE School of Architecture and Design professor, Laura Martínez de Guereñu, together with Carolina B. García-Estévez (ETSAB and UPC BarcelonaTech), organized and hosted the conference. About 100 leading professionals, academics and researchers came together to foster interdisciplinary debate and themes relevant both at the time of the Bauhaus and also today. A major focus was examining the exchange with the Bauhaus as a possible means of reassessing the history of Spanish architecture over the last 100 years.

Christophe Guberan's Workshops @ IE A&D

Christophe Guberan, Swiss designer and MIT professor and researcher in the Self Assembly Lab, delivered a three-day workshop to the second year Bachelor in Design students the IE Campus in Segovia.

Guberan pushed the students to think outside the box by using three strategies: rethinking the process, experimenting with materials, and challenging traditional methods.

The students had the opportunity the explore sustainability and the use of materials. They learned about the different digital fabrication processes to enhance a product's durability and meet the principles of the circular economy.

Sergio Corona and his Experience at IE A&D

Originally from Mexico, recent Master in Real Estate Development graduate, Sergio Corona, had already spent four years working at a real estate company before returning to university.

It was Sergio’s first experience studying abroad and he shared the last year with people from 20 different countries. It definitely made his experience much more enjoyable!
